Pass CLEP & DSST exams and earn credits faster
Earn college credits by getting the prep you need to pass CLEP® or DSST® exams.
CLEP & DSST Exams
Students looking to earn college credit by testing out of a college course should consider two options—the College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP) and the DANTES Subject Standardization Test (DSST).
What is CLEP & DSST?
Rather than attending semester-long college courses, the CLEP or DSST allows you to test out of college courses and earn the same credits by passing a proficiency exam instead. Taking and passing a CLEP or DSST exam helps maximize your current experience and expertise, while saving time and money toward your college degree.
CLEP exams cover introductory college-level material and help students earn college credit for what they already know. CLEP can benefit students of different ages and experiences. CLEP offers 34 exams in business, composition and literature, history and social sciences, science and mathematics, and world languages that are accepted by over 2,900 colleges and universities.
DSST exams cover over 30 subjects and are recognized by over 1,500 colleges and universities that aware college credits for passing scores. These exams were originated by the United States Department of Defense's Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support program.
It’s important to be as prepared as possible on test day. Our CLEP & DSST test prep courses teach you what you need to know to pass your exam with confidence, putting you in the best possible position to pass on your first try.
Compare CLEP & DSST Exams
CLEP and DSST exams help students earn college credit. They also enable students to achieve their goals, whether they want to jump-start their career or save money. Both exams contain multiple-choice questions and are administered digitally.
One key difference—CLEP exams take 90 minutes and DSST exams take 2 hours. CLEP exams are considered passed with 50% or more correct answers. Most DSST exams require a score of 400 minimum out of a possible 200 to 600 range.
Which exam course should I take?
That depends on your college’s credit policy for CLEP & DSST exams. Some schools give credit for all of them and some accept only a few. If you are unsure then let us help. Request a personalized college plan with Achieve and see if your school accepts CLEP or DSST courses.
